Doug Katona, Director of Training & Education

As co-founder and Director of Training and Education for Train.168, Doug Katona is an internationally recognized strength and conditioning coach, educator, author and entrepreneur. He has worked with NFL athletes as well as elite amateurs and Olympic hopefuls. He continues to train some of the top fitness athletes in the world as well as LEO/fire/SWAT/military and high school blue-chippers. His athletes have gone on to break national records in Olympic lifting, swimming and running. Doug has served as NFL training consultant to sports agencies including Leigh Steinberg Sports and Entertainment.

Doug has been featured on numerous pod casts, in magazine articles and interviews. He has certified and educated athletes and coaches in Germany, China, Dominican Republic, Japan, Portugal, Africa, Mexico, the UK and Canada. He has also been seen on FitTV and ABC news. He created CrossFusion, the leading high intensity-training format for Equinox.

Doug graduated from USC where he was named student of the year in the sports information department and earned a masters degree from Concordia University specializing in coaching and athletic administration. He continues to coach and program for athletes all over the world as well as serves as consultant to many gyms and athletic training centers.

He holds numerous certifications and coaching licenses including USA Track and Field, United States Weightlifting Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is a specialist in weightlifting, biomechanics, running technique, tactical training, programming and performance nutrition. He oversees a team of 10 coaches and develops yearly training programs for athletes, gyms and NFL players.

Doug is also a successful athlete. He is a two-time California State Time Trial champion (cycling), a competitive fitness athlete, duathlete, runner and Olympic lifter. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds organization and played baseball in Taiwan. He was also selected to carry the Olympic Torch in 1996.

When he is not training or coaching, he usually does another workout, looks for good waves, and finds an athletic competition or searches for the best places to eat.

 

Kevin Bell, Head Coach

Kevin is a versatile athlete and coach. As a successful Rugby player, he has become an even more versatile athlete. After attending EMT school in 2009, Kevin found CrossFit and became one of the strongest athletes pound for pound in the SoCal region. Kevin manages and coaches at two CrossFit gyms in Chino Hills, CA. He is CrossFit L1 and L2 as well as being certified in CrossFit Endurance and USA Weightlifting. He has also competed at the CrossFit Regionals twice on a team and once as an individual. Kevin is currently finishing his degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Fullerton. He lives in Chino Hills with his wife Kate.

Will Simpson, Head Coach

Will is a strength coach and competitive weightlifter. He has been working in the fitness industry since 2008. He received his Bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Memphis in 2014. Shortly after graduation, he became Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as well as a USAW L1 sports performance coach. With a background in martial arts, Olympic weightlifting, and power lifting, he continues to train and coach in Orange County, CA, where he now resides.
